NEW CLIENT ALERT: The Nomadic Hotel

The Nomadic Hotel, Nosara

Klima Welcomes The Nomadic Hotel, Nosara

A Haven of Laid-Back Luxury and Sustainable Living in Costa Rica's Blue Zone

Klima is thrilled to be working with The Nomadic Hotel in the charming surf town of Nosara in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Nestled up against a lush jungle, the Nomadic embraces a laid-back luxury immersed in the local community, and just steps from the beach. The 12-room hotel is popular with solo travelers, couples, and groups of friends, with rooms ranging from a one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen to king and queen rooms to a four-bed bunk room, accommodating guests aged 10 and older.

Design

The owners, a young family from Georgia, were inspired by their travels, incorporating elements from around the globe - wood and concrete inspired by Mexico, lights inspired by Morocco, thatched roofs inspired by Bali, tied together with local Costa Rican touches. Brought to life by Salagnac Arquitectos - a local Guanacaste firm known for seamlessly integrating buildings into their natural environment for more sustainable spaces - the property marries indoor and outdoor elements, with many rooms opening to terraces.

Culinary

The food at The Nomadic is all locally sourced and organic. Complimentary breakfast has a rotating menu with items like breakfast burritos, Costa Rican breakfast with plantains and local cheese, or banana pancakes, always alongside fruit, freshly squeezed juices, Costa Rican coffee, and tea. Throughout the day guests can order smoothies, juices, coffee/tea, and poolside snacks like ceviche or chips and salsa and sweet treats (like banana bread and açai bowls), wine, beer and specialty cocktails. (Guest favorites are the Nomadic Margarita and the Coconut Margarita.)

Embracing Nosara

In addition to the complimentary bike rentals for guests to explore town and the surrounding area, the front desk can set up myriad activities including surf lessons, horseback riding, spearfishing, waterfall hikes, standup paddleboarding, sportfishing, and private yoga sessions. Nosara is a surfer’s heaven - the Nomadic is a five-minute walk from Playa Guiones, one of Costa Rica’s most famous surf breaks, that happens to be year-round and suitable to all skill levels. It’s also home to other protected beaches (part of the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge) and an extensive network of walking and hiking trails.

Nosara is also known for its yoga scene and organic and natural food - there are weekly organic markets selling organic produce and artisanal products directly from farmers, and several local shops and restaurants prioritizing locally sourced, organic, and healthy ingredients, like the popular Organico market. Locals also patronize small farms like Hacienda Zaragoza for their farm boxes with fresh honey, milk, and produce.

Wellness

Wellness travel is growing (according to the Global Wellness Institute, it’s growing faster than overall global tourism expenditures annually since 2012) and Nosara has embraced healthy living. It sits on the Nicoya Peninsula, one of the world’s five Blue Zones where people tend to live longer, happier lives, attributed to the fact that they eat fresh local food, have active lifestyles, and a strong sense of community. In addition to its history of wellbeing, the town has developed a reputation as a yoga destination with many studios, teachers, and retreats throughout the year.

Retreats already on the schedule for next year:

  • Blue Zone Bliss: A Pura Vida Yoga Retreat - February 2-7, 2026

  • Yoga Retreat with Erika Gibson - February 9-14, 2026

  • Suntia Smith retreat - March 7-12, 2026

Sustainability

True to the Costa Rican ethos, the Nomadic has embraced sustainability since it opened in 2016. Surrounded by jungle, guests often see coati roaming the grounds and exotic birds like the roseate spoonbill flying by, or hear the distinctive roar of howler monkeys. Greywater is used for irrigation, local products are prioritized to limit waste and the carbon footprint of shipping, and there is on-site compost.

How to get there?

The nearest international airport is Liberia, which is about a 2-3 hour drive from the hotel.

Rates start around $200 USD
